As 80 percent of Koh Chang is still covered in rain forest, this makes it the perfect place to go hiking and walk through this flourishing jungle. It is not recommended to go on one’s own, as the jungle is big and dense and it is easy to lose your way. Depending on the season, guided, full-day tours are provided that will take you up to one of the mountain tops on the island and will give you beautiful views overlooking the bays and the sea.
Salak Phet, highest peak
There are hiking tours that start at the south-east of the island and make their way to the top of Salak Phet mountain, the highest peak on the island. As you can imagine, there will be a great, panoramic view from up there. As with everything, safety comes first! This means that the trip may be cancelled when it’s raining.
Klong Plu Waterfall
Another suggested hiking trip is the one that departs at Klong Plu waterfall. It’s about a 5/6 hour hike which starts and finishes at the waterfall. Even in the pouring rain, this tour will run, and we have been told that it is actually quite refreshing. You got your hiking shoes ready?
